I pushed the same concepts.
Reviews were 50/50.
Professor told me to push it a little bit further, not enough was done in order to push a campaign.
Unfortunately with the book already printed and sent in to be binded, the next steps factor wasn't able to be put in.
So here it is...as recommended from feedback
Next Steps:
T-Shirts
Water Bottles
Tote Bags
To make it become more public and to spread the word, my design concept would be printed on tshirts, bottles and tote bags to grab more attention and hopefully and spread the word of GMOs in our food supplies.

Final Concept Feedback
Feedback from the class was decent.
Felt really comfortable with the designs.
Pushing the apple concept.

Persona Activity
My group was myself, Dave and Lindsey.
Topic : GMO and the long term health risks
We were to give activities to the fellow 6 personas that I came up with. Dave and Lindsey offered useful insights on the activities and the personas.
Through an eight hour period throughout the day we were to chose the top 6 activities each of these individuals had in common. Meaning finding the problems within their days that can be changed through design.
The top six that had the same problem was unhealthy eating habits, and fast food consumption. The top 3 solutions we came up with is 1) promote healthy options 2) ban GMOs in Fast Food services and I wanted to add 3) to promote for Prop 37 to be passed with promotional graphics ie posters, brochures, infographics

Rapid Prototyping 8 Minutes
On June 27th during our 3rd class meeting. We had an activity where we were identifying our partners problem and we had to create an item for it.
My partner was Lindsey and she recently adopted a puppy. So I did some brainstorming on how she can carry all her dogs things and her things at the same time. I created a strap or handle that can be detached to become a chew toy or a fetching toy! ;D The bag itself can unfold into a blanket so that she has something to lay on at the park.

Project Reviews Assignment
Review #1 Project : Say Hi To Grandma
1.
Elderly adults in assisted living and healthcare
facilities feel disconnected from their family and friends.
2.
Methodology used here was to let elderly adults
have the knowledge to learn the new technologies that can be used to
communicate with their family members that are far away. “Most communication systems remain inappropriate
and difficult; focus on design is of central importance.” Chapter 2 was really
organized with data, interviews and an abundance of research that provided
solutions to the original problem that was stated.
3.
The hypothesis was formulated from the Problem
statement, and it clearly states that communication face to face will decrease
isolation and loneliness. There were
more than one, but each other supports the problem statement stated in the
beginning of the chapter. The hypothesis was to be tested to let elderly adults
not to be hesitant to try new technologies that are thrown at them at an
alarming rate.
4.
The student provided a solution to produce a new
design that was simple yet informative enough for the elderly to read and learn
the how to’s with new techonology. The student provided a venn diagram to
support the design solution presented, which all support the hypothesis. This
chapter was very easy to follow because of the cleanliness for the information
provided, nothing seemed to be clustered.
5.
This research concluded the elderly could use
something like “con+nect” since it is easy to use and very easy to use. The
conclusion is justified with the date collected because the design of the
interface is simple.
6.
The material in the appendix definitely added a
certain understand on how something like this can be produced in real life. It
became so realistic at the end that I wished it was real.
7.
The strong parts of the research was the
understand of the target audience, and the execution of the final solution.
Everything I wanted was provided, including personas, scenarios, pictures, and
a clear prototype of what it would look like. I would recommend this project to
anyone in the class currently taking 505.
Review #2 Project: Rethink&Reduce
1.
According to a research article, “The
Progressive Increase of Food Waste in America and Its Environmental Impact,”
40% of all edible food in the United States is thrown away, and consumers
contribute to a large portion of that waste.
2.
The methodology of this project was to provide
information collected around the world with food shortages, and comparing it to
the food waste in the United States.
3.
The hypothesis was to provide a visual campaign
that would inform local residents of San Francisco about the environmental,
social and economic implications of food waste.
4.
Provide additional and more information on how
to reduce food waste. It definitely supports the hypothesis and gives a lot of
suggestions.
5.
The research concluded that people didn’t wanted
to be bombarded of what to think and what to do, so a poster with minimal
pictures and types were produced in order not to shock people but to provide
and fun and contemporary design. A tote bag was also created to carry around so
that it could be spread among the locals.
6.
Yes, it provided a clear view of what the
student wanted to pursue. And she went with one of the most simple ideas and
turned it into something worth looking at.
7.
Strong point of the project is the research put
into the information provided in the book, she had a lot of panel of experts to
help her out with a lot of the information and how to execute her purpose. The
posters were beautiful and fun to read, I didn’t feel offended when I read it
since I am also a food waster sometimes.
Review #3 Project: Hepatitis B: The Silent Killer
1.
Due to the lack of awareness and promotion,
there is a high rate of Hepatitis B within the Vietnamese communities
2.
Using the information she found through her
extended research she provided not only the causes, but the symptoms and the cause
of this rare disease.
3.
Hypothesis was formulated from the visual tools
needed to spread the word of Hepatitis B among Vietnamese Americans.
4.
Yes they do, because starting a campaign to send
awareness to the Vietnamese people of Santa Clara, She contacted a series of
experts and they were willing to help in any way.
5.
She created some visual infographics on the
chance to get infected and they places Hepatitis B occurs the most among the
Vietnamese Community.
6.
The final recommended solution was to contact a
establishment like Stanford University where they have a center that deals of
Hep B patients.
7.
Her appendix was filled with inspirations which
eventually lead to her visuals. I feel like it is a good part to look at
because you can definitely tell what type of campaign she was going for.
